For quite some time, I'd been on the lookout for a kaftan, and finally happened upon one at my favorite local store. I wanted one that was lightweight, that I could wear the better part of the year. More importantly, I didn't want something that appeared matronly. While I love all of the beautiful, bright colored offerings for summer, I also didn't want that swimsuit, cover-up look. When I stopped to do some browsing yesterday, I did'nt really have a kaftan on my mind until I saw this one sticking out among some other pieces. I've mentioned this particular store before....they buy past season merchandise from various stores around the U.S. Yesterday, they featured items from Chicos, White House Black Market and more. This particular kaftan is Chicos and it was love at first sight. The burnout design, light as a feather silk and bugle bead embellishment did it for me. I don't think you can see them that well from the picture, but the v-neck is also accented with small, green, stones. I also like the fact that it has side drawstrings which allows for adjusting up and down. I will adjust it up to wear with shorts and down a bit for jeans. These days, I'll wear it with a lightweight tank underneath and for cooler, fall days, I'll add a long sleeved top. All in all, I expect to enjoy a great deal of wear!
