First Look: Chelsea Paris Fall 2011

Chelsea Paris has gone back in time for its fall ’11 collection.

In her second season, the brand's founder and designer, Theresa Ebagua, has tapped into the art deco movement of the 1920s and ’30s in Paris with a 12-style collection of ankle-strap platforms, Mary Jane-style flats, cone-heeled booties and d'Orsay pumps.

"The dancer and actress Josephine Baker [was] famed for her daring and exoticism, [and her] graceful beauty and wild spirit inspired the designs of the collection," Ebagua said. "The silhouettes are reminiscent of vintage styles, yet the avant-garde constructions and heel shapes render them new.”

The made-in-Italy collection features nappa suede, snakeskin and lace fabrics with a rich color scheme of red, cognac and rust that pays tribute to Ebagua's Nigerian roots. Priced between $245 and $890, the line will be sold at Hu's Shoes in Washington, D.C., and Diavolina in Los Angeles.
