Pictures 1. - 4. :
Nigerian Deola Sagoe presented her modern, sexy and futuristic collection at the African Collective Part III at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall 2010. Here is one of the looks that received applause. (picture one) Sagoe uses traditional African craftsmanship and fabrics but gives them a modern and feminine flair.
Sagoe’s creations have gained recognition by Vogue’s Andre Leon Talley, Oprah Winfrey and Will Smith.
Pictures 5. & 6. : Loin Cloth and Ashes
Tanzanian born Anisa Mpungwe started Loin Cloth and Ashes in 2008. The lines name comes from the Hebrew custom of humility before the higher spirit by wearing coarse cloth and dusting oneself with ashes.
Pictures 7. - 9. : Black Coffee
Jacques van der Watt, a graduate of Leggatts Design Academy in Johannesburg, created Black Coffee in 1998. Chanel Iman wore his design at the African Collective Part III show.
