Menswear: Simon Spurr RTW Fall 2010

Despite an inauspicious start (neglecting to peel the plastic off the runway), this designer label is off to a strong launch. Simon Spurr has the finest tailored clothing among his peer group in New York. Double-breasted jackets — strong shouldered and hip-length — looked especially debonair. The tailoring steered clear of pointless tricks, instead developing character with pleasing colors and dandyish stripes and checks. The tightness of the trousers felt discordant with the elegance of the jackets, but the Mick Jagger intention was understood. For casual days, there was an array of snug leather jackets in moto, bomber and peacoat styles, and distinctive knitwear with large-scale patterns or scarf-sweater twinsets

Debonair indeed! I love the fact that this is one of those collections with all of the elements that allows one to "mix and match." It runs the gamut, from classic to casual with being too "undone." Definitely stylish with that certain flair.
