Sneak Peek: Leona Edmiston S/S 2010

There was a time when Leona Edmiston was a part of a social scene in Sydney that saw more sunrises than Mel and Kochie but her party days are now behind her.

It was a sedate Edmiston who invited an eclectic crowd of newsreaders, mistresses and media, and those who blur the lines, to preview her spring/summer collection at Sydney’s Quay restaurant.

Bollinger were the restrained sponsor of the lunch, treating guests to tastes of their sparkling wine, while models showcased the Betty, Joanna, Mira, Nerida, Dana, Kitty, Blanche, Kira and Rebecca frocks.

Fortunately, there was enough sparkle from Edmiston’s creations and Nerida Winter’s wonderful millinery to satisfy a fashion thirst.

At the grown up affair guests such as Kelly Connolly, Shari-Lea Hitchcock and celebrity stylist Ken Thompson behaved admirably but I couldn’t help wishing that Edmiston’s party days would come back, once she’s finished courting the ladies who lunch.

Ladies who lunch indeed.....that was my first thought when scrolling through the pictures. This stunning collection reminds me of ladies such as Babe Paley, Grace Kelly and Slim Keith as they headed off on "holiday" to the South of France or some equally chic destination.
