HSN continues to devise new methods to drive sales.
Just a few months after launching its first iPhone app, the St. Petersburg, Fla.-based shopping network announced Wednesday a partnership with Comcast Corp. on a Shop by Remote application, which allows Comcast customers to make purchases from HSN using their television remote controls.
“As we enter the height of the holiday shopping season, HSN is thrilled to be working with an industry leader such as Comcast to provide millions more viewers a fast and easier way to shop from home,” said Peter Ruben, EVP of affiliate marketing and sales at HSN, in a statement.
The interactive application is being offered to the more than 8 million Comcast users for products that range from apparel and footwear to home products and electronics. Shoppers can select the quality, color and sizes of objects using their remote. And the average transaction time is estimated to be less than 60 seconds.
And on the following day, HSN also announced it also would launch a Shop by Remote widget for all Verizon Fios customers. The application will be located in Fios TV's Widget Bazaar marketplace and will feature product detals for on-air items, as well as daily specials and the last 15 items aired. (WWD)
HSN is certainly gaining "name status" as well as staying competitive in the retail marketplace.
