is the designer and brand manager for his own line of women’s shoes. He comes from an intense fashion design background that includes studies at important institutes like IED Moda Lab, Domus Academy, Bocconi and Politecnico di Milano, all the way to a diploma in “Footwear Collection Development” from Cercal in San Mauro Pascoli, the epicenter of Italian shoe manufacturing.
Having specialized in graphics and images, Rizieri worked in the shoe division of Marni before moving on to his own creative project in 2008 – a project based on values such as making things by hand, excellence in craftsmanship, sophisticated details and the exclusive elegance of Italian style.
Rizieri’s “green” sense of responsibility can be seen in how he used materials that are completely “eco friendly” for the S/S 2011 collection featuring vegetable dyes and tanning methods. For this coming winter’s collection, leftover leathers and other material remnants will be used. Master Italian shoe makers aim to transform these pieces into “zero impact” shoes available in limited, numbered editions.
It’s no surprise then that Livia Firth (creative director of Eco Age) chose to wear the Maty model to the Golden Globes where her husband Colin Firth won best actor for his role in “The King’s Speech.”
The red carpet of Hollywood Boulevard turned just that little bit “green” for the occasion and we hope that this trend wins over more celebrities so as to sensitize others to the idea of a way of modern living that pays attention not just to fashion but to the planet as well.
