Stella Does Gowns

Embroidered bodices and wide princess-like skirts, frills, sequins, lace and precious fabrics: Stella McCartney is now also getting closer to the haute couture field.

She, in fact, is creating a red carpet-style capsule collection that will be renewed twice a year.

The dresses, made with great detail and with the right mix of style, elegance and trendiness that has always has characterized the British designer’s creations, will be available in all of the brand’s boutiques, but only placing order.

Unique looks for special occasions that will win over not only celebrities.

The 2011 autumn/winter collection is a series of color graduations that go from the most classic – black, night blue, ivory and blush – to the most innovative: from burgundy to electric blue to shiny gold.

Stella McCartney Spring Ad Campaign

STELLA’S SPOTS: Stella McCartney has put an old pal at the center of her spring ad campaign: Lucky, the pet dalmatian her family had when she was growing up. The black-and-white image of Lucky — shot by Linda McCartney in 1976 — serves as the backdrop to the ads, which feature Natalia Vodianova. The campaign, shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, was styled by McCartney and the art direction was done in house.

“I love the way it’s very graphic and soft at the same time, due to its double exposure,” said McCartney of her mother’s photo, which is entitled “Lucky, Sussex, 1976.” As for her choice of Mert and Marcus, McCartney told WWD: “I have known Marcus since I was a teenager and Mert from when they first met, but we never had the chance to work together. I wanted to capture their high-glamour approach over my mum’s low-maintenance way of working.”

She said the campaign images are “fashion meets reportage, mixing color, and black-and-white. A family animal with an outside atmosphere meets studio lights, camera, action! Opposites meeting in one image, illustrating the masculine and feminine sides of the Stella McCartney brand,” she said.

The ads will break in the March issues in the British, French and Italian editions of Vogue as well as in V and Pop.

Immaculate designs! It appears that she is forging a new path and creating more detailed and "sculptural" pieces which all adds up to one stunning collection.

Stella McCartney: Alice in Wonderland Jewelry

Lewis Carroll's tale of a little girl, Alice, in a strange land continues to inspire. Tim Burton's 3-D take on the story - starring Johnny Depp - is set to be released this March and, in honour of the Disney film, Stella McCartney has designed a limited edition necklace and bracelet. Her trademark palette of neutrals, blacks and browns is put to work with the same brass chain used in her best-selling Falabella bag. Famous Alice charms - including a rabbit, a Mad Hatter's hat and suits from a deck of cards - are suspended from the chain. The pieces will be available in Stella McCartney stores from February.

Oh the beauty of it all! I'm happy to see the return of fringe, the boot and gladiator sandals. While I love each and every one of the lovelies, the Giuseppe Zanotti multi-colored, beaded sandal speaks to my soul.....talk about your "walking statement."
