Fluvia Lucerda Named Curvy Model of The Year

Fluvia Lacerda isn’t your typical plus size model. For starters, she once worked as a nanny after immigrating to the United States from Brazil to pursue a better life. Little did she know that one day she would be called “the plus size Gisele Bundchen.”

More than her heritage, though, the thing that truly sets Fluvia apart is her dedication to the very community that her image uplifts. “I don't go home after a photo shoot and [forget] about everything related to what I do for a living,” says Lacerda. “Modeling has led me to meet many women who have struggled with being told they have no value in society. Representing those women has a far higher meaning to me than just a paycheck.” It’s no wonder, then, that she was voted Full Figured Fashion Week’s Plus Model of the Year, an honor that she doesn’t take lightly.

At size 18, Fluvia is curvier than many plus size models in today’s industry, but that’s something she’s more than proud of. She’s no stranger to breaking down barriers - she was the first (and only ) plus size model to grace the pages of Playboy Brazil (or any Playboy, for that matter).

Next up for this unstoppable force? More campaigns, more editorials, and a summer full of work in Europe. She also has plans to start her own plus size line in her native country. Though her accomplishments are innumerable, Fluvia is most proud of her message. “The best result out of all the hard work I have achieved is knowing that I have liberated the minds of so many women who have struggled with a negative body image their entire lives.”

First of all, the fashion varies from company to another, and then within that particular society, there are many features that could inspire fashion, such as age or generation, profession, social class or profession. Many people now understand how the term usually refers to clothing. The first phase, which we call fashion today is not actually refer to clothes and go back to the sixteenth century. However, it was only two centuries after the actual appearance of fashion looks has happened and caused in Europe, the wealthy upper class. Sure, it would be unfair to judge that the fashion is the same all over the world. The properties of the different regions can bring about differences in fashion among the people of the same company.

But the question is how to change anyway? We all know that change is stable, which is fashion. Everyone is fit again now will soon become old, and this increase is in both directions, it was once fashionable but now considered outdated and will soon become something new.

Capitalism has brought its positive aspects, some less attractive. People prefer fashion, so it is not mandatory for them and thereby accelerate the process of change in that fashion is concerned. Younger generations have much to do with revolutionizing the fashion world, because they are always enthusiastic and willing to try interesting things, things that have not experienced before. People tend to confuse a trend and fashion is a classic when it comes to fashion. Although the trend is the current style and fashion is a classic case, it means something that would be timeless. Latest fashion trends do not drop the image of classic clothing. Classic clothe usually precious, copied and taken for years.

Here are some trappings of fashion in recent years, which had been so timeless classics forever. The classic suit has always been a favorite hit either a pantsuit or skirt suit. Although details of the prosecution may change, but the trend will probably continue to be. Talk of jeans and it is one hundred percent a classic that has survived through the centuries. People go gaga over a pair of comfort with a perfect fit and cut. This seasonal trend is for the slim fit denim. High heels and evening gowns are still other classical pieces. The charisma of traditional clothing is that infatuation is almost all seasons.

Curvy Models: Inga Eiriksdottir

Elena Miro

About her

"I was born in Iceland, I live in New York and I work for Ford Models."

Career

“I began modelling at fourteen when a woman discovered me in a pizzeria in Iceland and asked me to take part in a show with people who were there. There was a person who wanted me to move to London to work as a model, but my parents wouldn’t allow that since I was too young. I was like, ‘It’s my last chance, next year I’ll be too young!’ Then, when I was fifteen, I managed to get to London and since then I’ve carried on travelling around the world.”

Beauty secret

“I really think that my beauty secret is yoga because it makes me feel happy and calm inside and outside – it’s great for the body and mind. I take Omega-3 in the mornings too.”

Style advice

“I hope I can be an example of healthy living for girls and that appreciate their bodies and try yoga because it changed my life, it’s one of my favourite things. In ten years I see myself still being a model, perhaps a bit more, and I hope I can teach yoga more and start a yoga retreat in Iceland.”

Fatima Siad got her start on the Tyra Bank's "America's Next Top Model: Cycle 10." Unfortunately, she failed to win the number one spot but has since graced the runways of Gemma Kahng, Betsey Johnson, and Lublu K. Plastinina. Fatima has also been featured in magazines such as Cosmopolitan, Essence and Womens Wear Daily. The Somali-Ethiopian fashion model is clearly on her way to becoming one of the next international super models.
