aims to merge nostalgia for its American roots with the latest Swiss technology in the new Time Player watch.
Described as “latitude and longitude with attitude”, this hi-tech model is inspired by the geographic co-ordinates system based on lines of latitude and longitude.
The concept unites finger-operated timekeeping in four up-to-the-minute time zones with zany design belonging to the future, the company said.
Hamilton took inspiration from a design the company originally created for a clock in the Stanley Kubrick movie, ‘2001: Space Odyssey’
A totally flat 48mm by 42mm titanium case is split into nine squares, eight filled with movable counters and one left empty like a sliding puzzle.
These counters, separated by lines symbolising those of latitude and longitude, enable the wearer to set and measure time in the current location, plus three others.
A Hamilton logo marks the here and now, while the additional three places are identified by colour-coded printed names of the dynamic cities of Dubai, New York and Tokyo.
The remaining four counters are all individual watch dials, in colours to match the corresponding location, so that they can dedicate their energy to tracking the passage of time in the defined destination.
To set the time in a desired time zone, the wearer simply moves the corresponding miniature watch to the central square and adjusts via a crown. Once this is done, all of the counters can be moved around again at will.
Two easy-to-grip crowns are positioned on each of the two sides of the case where the attachment joins.
The thick black rubber strap also picks up the theme of right angles with corresponding indents.
Launching in June 2010, the watches are limited edition and exclusively available on www.hamilton-lab.com. Price: €2,000.

My favorite Swarovski watch is back for 2010 and even sportier. I discussed the Octea watches here last year and was pleasantly impressed with the design. It was an interesting combo between women's sport watches, and popular glass crystal maker. I commented that if they made a men's version, I would probably wear it. As such, I think almost any woman interested in a sporty (and relatively affordable) watch would dig one of these. The case is in steel, 39mm wide, and has a series of crystals placed in it. Who'd a thought you'd ever see a rotating diver's bezel with Swarovski crystals in it?
For 2010 the watch gets an orange redo. Mostly the same from last year, but now primed for even more action. I like how they kept the swan logo at the 12 o'clock indicator - but now it is in orange. It it wasn't for all the faceted stones, I would say the watch more or less is a men's design - but that is very trendy for women these days. Movement is a Swiss quartz, and it comes with a rubber strap or a metal bracelet. Both of these have inset faceted hematite stones that really give it a cool look. There is another swan logo placed in the crown as a cabochon. Really a cool women's watch collection from Swarovski. Plus, the Octea Sport watches are all about $800 - $900 in price.

I'm usually not a huge fan of sports watches, but this one I love.....the styling as well as the color is very appealing.

It's almost Valentine's Day and love is quite evidently in the air. That means you should have enough gifting options handy too right? Well let me add a new option to your list. The Pont des Amoureux from Van Cleef & Arpels is a beautiful ladies watch and it is so cute that it would melt your heart at first sight! The dial features two delicate white gold figures the lady with the umbrella indicated the hour and the cute guy hiding a flower behind his back indicated the minutes. And when the clock strikes 12, the cute couple shares a kiss too!
The chronograph has a 38mm diameter made out of 18carat white gold case which is laced with diamonds around the bezel, the mono-piece lugs, and the watch crown as a cabochon. The watch has a modified Jaeger-LeCoultre mechanical movement. The watch is finished with a white reptile strap. And at $116,000, it is quite a stunning gift indeed!
