Tempest has a business head on his young shoulders and is keen to capitalise on showing in America “to push the awareness globally and push sales.” It was a deliberate move to expand from cocktail dresses (which are doing very well in the middle east) to more relaxed shapes. “I did the jumpsuits for the New York consumer” he said, “and everyone’s favourite piece today is the easy to wear shirtdress.” His favourite? “The asymmetric corseted coral”, a typical Tempest shape. But while designing with your consumer in mind is important – and the results here were strong - let’s hope he doesn’t stray too far from his passion to chase the ever-changing market.
